Lando Norris led Oscar Piastri for a McLaren 1-2 during the second practice session for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, which was halted due to a crash Yuki Tsunoda .
The Red Bull racer positioned his RB21 against the outer barrier at the last turn with just eight minutes left in the session, effectively bringing it to an abrupt close since there was insufficient time for typical practice laps once conditions improved and went back to normal.
The sole significant issue during an otherwise uneventful race occurred when McLaren reaffirmed its supremacy. In the intense competition at the 6.1 km long Jeddah street track, Norris narrowly surpassed teammate Piastri. This victory aimed to help Norris recover from a challenging performance in Bahrain.
Following an unexpected relinquishment of the top position in the initial practice session to Alpine's driver, Pierre Gasly Norris and Piastri were clearly the quickest cars in Jeddah, with Norris maintaining a lead of merely 0.001 seconds over his teammate during the initial medium tire stints.
After 15 minutes Ferrari's Charles Leclerc raised the stakes with a 1m29.002s lap on medium tires, while Tsunoda and the driver on soft tires did the same. Liam Lawson Also shared the top five.
As the leaders changed to softer tires, the defending world champion Max Verstappen He briefly took the lead with a time of 1 minute, 28.547 seconds, but the Red Bull driver was swiftly overtaken when Piastri clocked in at 1 minute, 28.430 seconds.

Norris retaliated by outpacing Piastri’s time by 0.090 seconds and subsequently improved his own best effort to 1 minute and 28.267 seconds using the same tire set.
Verstappen’s second stint with soft tires performed better than his initial one but was still 0.280 seconds behind Norris, failing to disrupt McLaren’s dominance at the forefront of the race.
Leclerc came in fourth, trailing behind by four-tenths of a second, with Leclerc being followed by Williams driver Carlos Sainz And then came the second Red Bull driven by Tsunoda, who trailed his accomplished teammate by four-tenths of a second prior to crashing.
Russell, Gasly managed to be unexpectedly fast Sauber of Nico Hulkenberg and the second Williams of Alex Albon completed the top 10.
As often on the high-speed and blind twists on the Jeddah Corniche street circuit, traffic was a big factor, with both Verstappen and Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton called before the stewards for potentially obstructing fellow drivers. Hamilton ended up in 13th place following a less prominent performance.
Before Tsunoda's off, Mercedes rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli cut the turn at the wall from the same corner, leading to an immediate pit stop.
Fellow rookie Gabrial Bortoleto did not take part in FP2, after his Sauber team discovered a fuel leak that could not be repaired in time.
