Success Can Breed Bad Habits: GT Assistant Coach Aashish Kapoor Shares Insights on Mastering the Basics

New Delhi [India], Apr 19 (ANI): The Gujarat Titans ( GT Assistant coach Aashish Kapoor pointed out that even top cricketers might fall into poor routines regarding fundamentals, whether in batting or bowling techniques, particularly during their peak performance periods.

"As cricketers whether it is a batsman or a bowler, over a period of time when you're doing well, you get into certain bad habits whether its batting or bowling, with your basics, and with Rashid I think it was his back which was hurting him last year where he had to do a surgery. Sometimes when you are in so much pain and you're still playing matches, you tend to do something with your action so that your pain is less," Aashish Kapoor said in the pre-match press conference.

"There were several points during our conversations this year, particularly after two or three matches, where I mentioned that he needed to adjust his front hand, as it was too closed. This hand should face towards the batter when he bowls. He has started making these changes recently. Additionally, over the past couple of games, he’s bowled more accurate lengths. With some regained confidence and a few wickets under his belt, hopefully, he will revert to being the original Rashid Khan," he concluded.

Kapoor additionally discussed Rabada's absence from the squad.

"He [Rabada] may come back; we're simply awaiting his return. He has had to deal with some family and personal issues that led to his departure. If these matters get resolved promptly, he could join us again. However, an exact timeline remains uncertain. Everyone here is also waiting," he explained.

Gujarat Titans ( GT ) will take on Delhi Capitals ( DC ) in the 35th game of the IPL 2025. This match will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
