Goregaon Sports Club Crowned Elite Cup Champions

Mumbai (Maharashtra), India - April 14 (ANI): Goregaon Sports Club emerged as the winning team in the 31st GD Birla Memorial Masters Inter-Club Badminton Tournament after beating the host club Bombay Gymkhana A 2-1 victory in the Elite Cup Team Championship finals.

Aparna Popat , Mangirish Palekar Manoj Nachanekar enjoyed a successful tournament and emerged victorious in two categories at this top-tier Inter-Club Championship, which was organized by Badminton Gurukul, according to an announcement.

Sanjeev Mahajan and Bhagwan S provided GSC A strong beginning saw them beat Gautam Laud and Faisal Sidique with scores of 21-18, 14-21, 21-19 in an intense three-game match. Nonetheless, Shailesh Daga and Ayaz Bilawala leveled the game for hosts Bombay Gym A after they defeated Leroy D'Sa and Hemant Duggal 21-14, 21-18. Ultimately, it came down to Rajesh Bhanushali and Abhishek Sharma, who secured the championship for their team. GSC with a 21-13, 21-19 victory over Aparna Popat and Bimaldeep Singh.

Nachanekar, the highest-ranked professional, claimed victory over second-seeded Chetan Bandarkar with scores of 22-20 and 21-19 to secure the singles championship. In another match, Palekar paired with Vikrant Patwardhan to clinch the men’s doubles 45 category by beating Gautam Laud and Sandeep Mohan with a scoreline of 21-18, 21-17. Additionally, Palekar secured the 85+ doubles title alongside Deepak Jaitley after defeating Nigel D’Sa and Rohan Radhakrishna with a convincing 21-15, 21-10 result.
