After Close Loss to MI, DC Aims for Comeback Against RR

New Delhi [India], April 15 (ANI): Following their initial defeat, Indian Premier League (In IPL) back in 2025 during their last appearance, Delhi Capitals (DC) aims to recover and keep up their strong performance as they face Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their subsequent match at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday.

Delhi Capitals endured a close loss by 12 runs in their recent game against Mumbai Indians (MI).

"Reflecting on the previous game, we were close to winning, but sadly the middle order crumbled which led to our loss. However, I believe that in such a significant competition, encountering losses is inevitable. When you face setbacks during these matches, they bring your team closer and encourage self-reflection on improving collectively. Thus, I think losing at this point was timely, as it will assist us in evaluating our performance," Pacer Mohit Sharma stated at the pre-match press conference, as per the DC statement.

"This is highly beneficial even post the IPL season. Absolutely, for Delhi, he’s an asset. His performance has been outstanding for the squad. Despite facing challenges like compact playing areas and moisture on the ground, KD’s bowling remains remarkable. Additionally, as the captain utilizes Axar, he brings him into play during crucial moments—whether we’re trying to break through opposition batting or build partnerships efficiently with his wickets," he concluded.

When asked about Axar Patel Regarding his leadership, Sharma mentioned that the ambiance is quite positive.

"Axar and I have spent considerable time playing cricket together, so I am acquainted with him on a personal level. Since taking up the role as captain, my relationship with him hasn’t altered. He maintains a relaxed environment and ensures everything runs smoothly without complicating matters," he explained.

Sharma commented on the ball-change rule during the second inning, stating, “As a bowler, it’s definitely beneficial—there’s no doubt about its impact. The harder ball behaves differently. For instance, when bowling around the 14th or 15th over after the ball switch occurs, aiming for Yorkers becomes preferable since the drier ball doesn’t slide as much. Hence, I believe this does make a significant difference.”

Rajasthan Royals they have secured two victories and suffered four losses out of their six games played so far, while Delhi Capitals They have secured victory in four out of their five games and suffered only one defeat. Their next challenge will be facing Rajasthan Royals In their sixth IPL 2025 encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday. (ANI)
